Following the pandemic, children’s well-being is something that needs to be addressed across the country. Many children have low self-esteem and confidence with the pressure of catching up after all the home schooling, the pressure to make the grades, the pressure to work hard even though they may still be fearful.
Anxiety in children is at an all time high as a result and schools are under their own pressures to teach and support their students mental health.
Taking this into consideration along with my own journey with my eldest son, I knew something needed to come. As an NLP practitioner, so much of what I do is in the mind, in the power of our thoughts, and how we can shape our outcomes by learning how to shift our mindset and perspective. I adopted these techniques with my son and we’ve made huge progress in reducing his anxiety. To the point, I’ve witnessed him help others with what we’ve done together.
With this in mind, I wrote my first children’s book ‘Don’t Tell Me No’ and created Doug.
Doug is a 7 year old boy who has low confidence and low self-esteem when it comes to schoolwork. He discovers how the power of his thoughts can completely change his outcome and achieve things he never thought were possible.
It’s crucial for children to understand their worth and capabilities especially through these times, and Doug is here to help them through.
